Overview
The information in this article demonstrates how users can use the Self-Service Portal to get the BitLocker recovery key if they forgot their password or PIN, or because they changed operating system files, or because they changed the BIOS or the Trusted Platform Module (TPM), without asking their Help Desk for assistance.
BitLocker Recovery Process
- Reboot the machine, from the keyboard Press Esc key to access BitLocker Recovery screen
Retrieve the BitLocker Recovery Key
- Browse to the following link from your mobile or internet browser My Account - Devices (microsoft.com)
- Sign in with your Email/Microsoft365 email address and password.
- You will see all the registered devices, select your affected machine, then Click on View Bitlocker Keys
- Match Key ID showing on the screen with the one listed on the portal, then select Show recovery key
- Enter the Recovery Key listed on the machine Recovery dialog box.
